Description

🏷️ Types of FSSAI Licenses

FSSAI Basic Registration Small FBOs like petty retailers, hawkers, small manufacturers, cottage industries Up to ₹12 lakh
FSSAI State License Medium-sized manufacturers, transporters, storage units, distributors, restaurants ₹12 lakh to ₹20 crore
FSSAI Central License Large-scale food businesses, importers, exporters, e-commerce operators Above ₹20 crore or operating in multiple states

📋 Documents Required

For Basic Registration:

  • Photo ID proof (Aadhaar/Driving License)

  • Passport-size photo

  • Business name and address

  • Food category

  • Form A (filled online)

For State/Central License (additional documents):

  • Proof of premises (electricity bill, rental agreement)

  • Incorporation certificate or partnership deed

  • List of food products to be handled

  • Layout of premises

  • NOC from local authority

  • Water testing report (if applicable)

  • Import/export code (for Central license)


💻 How to Apply (Online):

  1. Go to https://foscos.fssai.gov.in

  2. Click on “Apply for Registration/License”

  3. Select the type (Basic/State/Central)

  4. Fill out the application (Form A or B)

  5. Upload documents

  6. Pay the applicable fee

  7. Track status online and receive your FSSAI number and certificate


🔒 Validity and Renewal

  • Valid for 1 to 5 years, depending on what you choose at the time of application

  • Renewal must be done 30 days before expiry


🧾 FSSAI Number Format

  • A 14-digit number that must be printed on all food packages
