ITR-4 (also called Sugam) is an Income Tax Return form used by individuals, Hindu Undivided Families (HUFs), and firms (other than LLPs) who have income from a presumptive business or profession under Sections 44AD, 44ADA, or 44AE of the Income Tax Act.
Resident individuals, HUFs, and firms (not LLPs)
Having income from business/profession computed on presumptive basis
Business turnover/gross receipts up to ₹2 crore (Section 44AD)
Professionals with gross receipts up to ₹50 lakh (Section 44ADA)
Transporters with income computed under Section 44AE

Simplified return form with fewer details needed
Presumptive income is calculated as a fixed percentage of turnover (8%, 6%, 50%, etc. depending on business type)
No detailed books of accounts required under presumptive taxation
If opting for presumptive taxation, you need to declare income as per the prescribed rates

Fill in the details of presumptive income, other incomes, deductions
Verify the return using Aadhaar OTP, Net Banking, or by sending signed ITR-V to CPC, Bangalore
